One of the first online radio networks to go live in 1999, DI has grown into a destination and lifestyle for over 3 million unique listeners who tune in every month. Digitally Imported offers something unique for every electronic music fan, no matter what style of music you love.
Our streaming network is made up of an online listening experience, mobile applications, third party vendor and device support, and an engaged & loyal social media following. Digitally Imported is entrenched in electronic music... it's not just music; it's a lifestyle.
Digitally Imported is a multi-channel internet radio service that focuses exclusively on Electronic Music. Today our team of curators sifts through petabytes of new releases and back catalogs to find only the best from each genre or style, but it wasn't always like that.
Ari Shohat started Digitally Imported while studying for a BA in Computer Science. A single Trance radio stream was broadcast from a computer in his Binghamton University dorm room. Despite humble beginnings, it was one of the first ever internet radio services.
Running on donated bandwidth and a passion for the music, Ari and company pushed DI into new musical styles and new business territory. A handful of unique channels and a growing customer base in the thousands.
DI is awarded Best Global Radio Station at the International Dance Music Awards at Miami's annual Winter Music Conference. What an honor to be recognized for the work we love to do.
Many millions of registered listeners, dozens of channels covering every corner of Electronic Music, and it's all still running out of Ari's dorm room. jk.
The team at Digitally Imported is truly global with staff and volunteers from around the world. Being so widely distributed has become an integral part of our company culture.
Ari spent his college days obsessing over how to get other people to hear the music he likes. After refusing to air sounds of whales mixed in with crappy music during his college radio station apprenticeship, he quit and started Digitally Imported to stream Trance and Eurodance to the world instead. These days he can be caught at his desk in the Denver HQ occasionally fantasizing over having his own island in the Mediterranean sea.
Like the Wizard in OZ, Eloy is most happy when pulling levers and flicking switches to create the magic of success. With the creation of Beatport.com under his belt, Eloy is determined with Digitally Imported to replicate his earlier successes by pulling together smart minds and big ideas. Eloy strives to empower the people around him and strongly believes that if everyone in the room agrees, then we’re not working hard enough.
Christina's love and passion for music started in the age of cassette tapes, where she developed an obsession with figuring out how to create smooth continuous listening experiences not only for herself, but anyone within earshot. This obsession continues to this day with her role as head of content operations. Here, she strives to run a team as amazing as the music Digitally Imported showcases, and as smoothly as her earliest cassette tape creations.
Back in the year of 2000 Johan sent in a few DJ sets for airplay to a seemingly innocent looking DI Radio and was promptly assimilated by the DI hive mind. These days when he's not busy curating his multiple channels he works diligently to enhance the listener experience throughout DI. All from his cave of employment somewhere in the southern part of Sweden.
A true veteran to the music industry, Mike has done it all, from operating record stores (yes, real physical vinyl records), to running club nights, record labels, DJ-ing across the globe and playing a crucial role in the growth of the digital music market, including nearly a decade with Beatport. Mike is a self-proclaimed dance music encyclopedia and challenges anyone to a game of ‘name that track’. Regardless of genre or year released, prepare for a true challenge.
Phillip has a passion for all sorts of music including, of course, electronic music. As the channel director of the Deep Nu-Disco channel, he brings to DI a unique blend of house, funk, and disco that can't be found anywhere else. This long-time Denver native is entrenched in the local scene and occasionally stops by the office to share his latest ideas for growing and promoting DI to the world - a true fan if we ever had one!
Passionate about low frequencies and chill melodies, Sashwat has been an avid DI listener and electronic music connoisseur since 2000. He's been DJing since 2007 and launched his Dank 'N' Dirty Dubz Radio Show/Bass Music Label since 2010 which led to curating the content for DI Dubstep and Liquid Dubstep.
Raised in the 90's breaks era in Orlando, Robbie soon discovered drum and bass and was instantly hooked. Robbie tends to stick with the teeth-chattering darker sides of DnB and runs the Dark DnB channel. Give him a good amen break and some neuro-basslines and let's go!
Jimo is an electronic music enthusiast who has contributed mixes to DI since 2005 on the Trance, Vocal Trance and Hardcore channels. Jimo has since taken the opportunity to join team DI as the Hardcore channel director.
Remco has been listening to and streaming on DI since day one. Initially part of the famous Studio 14 broadcasts on the Trance channel, he's been helping out with shows and events on various channels in several countries. For the last 7 years he has operated the secret DI IRC network and also recently taken over the management of the Hardstyle channel.
Igor aka Solarsoul is a musician and DJ from Moscow, Russia. He manages the Chillout, Ambient, Chillout Dreams, Space Dreams and Vocal Chillout channels on Digitally Imported. He enjoys writing music in this style.
Listening to DI since 2003, Frank was fortunate to take over program director duties of the Goa-Psy Trance Channel in 2008. He then launched the PsyChill and Progressive Psy Channels a few years later. He keeps the psychedelic culture alive at DI, culminating with the popular Summer and Winter Solstice Events which bring the outdoor festival vibe to the digital world.
